This happens because the increasing imports made by a country will reduce the foreign exchange reserves owned by the country.
Foreign exchange reserves partially did not significantly influence rice imports in Indonesia in the period 1988-2017. The total population does not have a significant effect on rice imports in Indonesia in the period 1988-2017. This shows that the rise and fall of rice imports in Indonesia is influenced by variables of population, inflation and foreign exchange reserves.
The results of this study concluded that the population, inflation, and foreign exchange reserves simultaneously had a significant effect on rice imports in Indonesia in the period 1988-2017. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the publication of the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and The World Bank. Population and energy consumption variables have a positive and significant effect on the level of Carbon Footprint, while foreign direct investment has a positive effect and appropiate with Pollution Heaven Hypothesis, but does not significantly affect the Carbon Footprint.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of population, inflation, and foreign exchange reserves simultaneously or partially on rice imports in Indonesia. The results showed that the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis was proven in ASEAN 8 countries. The method that used in the study is panel data regression with the Random Effect Model. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of economic growth, population, energy consumption, foreign direct investment (FDI) and crisis economics on Carbon Footprint in ASEAN 8 during the period 2000-2017 and to prove the existence of Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) shown by Inverted U-shaped.
